The Mars theatre is a group of Swedish speaking actors and a director having fun together and still doing extremely well made theatre. Established in 1985, the group shares the idea of Tao about not doing anything, and yet everything gets done (which basically means drinking coffee instead of rehearsing). Through the years they have also specialised in gestalt therapeutic thinking (more coffee drinking). In the centre of the groups praxis is the art of an actor and the form of a performance (so called 'poor theater's aesthetics'). The very artistic process is often a research project focusing in the techniques and methods of acting. The group is best known for its modernized version of classics such as Shakespeare, Chekhov and Brecht, and loved by the big public.
